• In May of 1914, only a few months prior to the first passenger train, the grade was under attack by a flooding Endako River. One engine is derailed.

• Barney Mulvaney won the reminents of the construction camp in a poker game one night. The next day he packed everything to Burns Lake where he set up his own tent town along side the railway tracks.
